With all the novel diet pills and new supplements available on the market today such as acai berry and wu-yi tea supplements, you may be overlooking an age-old technique for weight loss: cider vinegar. That’s right, you might not need to stuff your body full of chemicals or go on a crazy crash fad diet. The answer you’re looking for could already be right under your nose! It might sound wacky, but taking cider vinegar has been used as a weight control method for hundreds of years by many dieters.
So how can apple cider vinegar help with your weight control? Well! No one really knows for sure. Scientific tests haven’t been able to prove anything about cider vinegar regarding conventional weight loss properties. The main reason you should try cider vinegar is is not because of test-tube reseach but based on the thousands of stories by people who’ve already used it, and successfully lost weight thanks to it.
However some people do have some ideas as to why cider vinegar helps in weight loss. It is said by many that the mixture of minerals in cider vinegar is similar to those in superfruits such as the acai berry and so helps to increases a person’s natural metabolic rate. Apples, from which cider is made, are high in potassium and the specific form it takes in vinegar may be more assimilable by the body. A higher rate of metabolism makes our body assimilate and change food into energy faster. Other people have stated that cider vinegar itself actively burns up calories in your body which in turn helps the body lose weight.
Some recent investigations showed that drinking cider vinegar with or right before a meal can help you feel more full, prevening overeating. This test was a very small one, and was not conducted on hundreds of people, but nevertheless results looked good for dieters. It is known that that the inhabitants of ancient Egypt used cider vinegar for weight loss, so it must be doing something right!
There are several different ways to take cider vinegar in your dieting program. The simplest way is just to add a little bit of cider vinegar to a glass of juice or water, and drink it with a meal. Another method is to purchase capsules or pills that contain dried cider vinegar in them. Some cider vinegar supplements contain other things, like lecithin and vitamin B6, which when combined with the cider vinegar can be more effective than cider vinegar alone. (Many people take lecithin separately — it is also available from health-food stores.)
Apart from having an effective weight loss benefit, cider vinegar is also very healthy for you. It is naturally rich in many vitamins and minerals, and contains a number of substances such as Vitamin P and micronutrients like manganese and phosphorous which (proponents claim) can be as effective as resveratrol in helping to keep you looking (and feeling) younger for longer. For instance, cider vinegar also contains magnesium, calcium and iron along with the potassium mentioned above, which can help lower blood pressure. There are many other things cider vinegar can also help with like digestion, sore throats (mix with a little honey), arthritic pains and even diabetes.
However, cider vinegar is very acidic, which means it can damage your teeth, mouth or throat if taken neat, so it is important to always dilute cider vinegar in water or juice before drinking it. If you’re very concerned about your teeth, drink the cider vinegar through a straw.

I like the taste of most fruit, but I hate the texture of them!
I love grapes, but I end up sucking the juice out and spitting the rest out.
I like apples, but I hate the way they feel when I chew on them.
So, my question, what is the best (and preferably cheapest) fruit juice to buy? Or should I just buy the fruit myself and make it, which I’d really prefer not to do, because I’d have to spend extra money on a juicer and waiste the rest of the fruit.
make it your self
too many chemicals and sugars in store bought juice
it’s bad for you

I got a Tropicana 100% apple juice from a drive thru today and when I read the ingredients, I noticed it said apple juice from concentrate and the concentrate is from Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Argentina, Chile, Turkey, Brazil, China, and the United States. Then I went to a convenience store which and decided to check other apple juices to see where they are made. The store carried Dole brand and Minute Maid brand apple juice. Both of those brands also are made from concentrate from many different countries. Why do they need apples from so many countries?? Just wondering?
Just a guess… but maybe because apples can thrive in a large variety of climates and is therefore a great export for countries?

I am beginning a juice fast today (and yes I know how to do it, its doctor supervised, and healthy so please no comments relating to why juice fasting is ‘bad’ for you.)
For my fellow juicers, what are some of the best fruits and veggies for juicing. Any juice recipes would be helpful as well.
It depends what you like. What I do is to add carrots as one of my veggies. If you add apples it will make it sweet and take away the bitter taste from the veggies.
What every you use it should be organic.

I am following a one day juice detox and am interested to know how many calories I am consuming. Does anyone know how you calculate calories for this? Do you base it on the whole vegetable or fruit or is it less becuse there will be no pulp. I am not trying to monitor or restrict my intake particularly but just curious as I would like to have juices on other days when I am eating normally. Maybe I could measure the juice output but that would be quite fiddly to do and wonder if there is an easier way.
I have been juicing carrots, apples, pears, oranges and lemons.
Hmmm toughie, I suppose thats why you dont have any answers. What you have to remember here is that your turning a solid into liquid, but not extracting its natural water content. I personally would calculate the calorific content of juice by counting for the whole fruit or veg. If anything you’ll over calculate, not over calculate and misjudge you calorie intake for that day. Remember to add the calorie and fat if your using icecream or yoghurt as a liquid aid for the juice though.

Or is it okay to just drink a lot of water without the apple juice. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but I only recently just realized how much sugar and carbs and calories are in apple juice. I usually mix a pitcher of half water, half apple juice and drink it regularly. Do I even need the apple juice any more to keep me regular? Do you think it makes a difference or am I just taking in unnecessary sugars/carbs/calories?
The water will do. Apples prevent constipation with their apple rinds, not the inside part. So, apple juice, technically, wont help prevent constipation. and keep you reg.
