Is V8 fruit juice really as healthy as the advertisements say it is?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

You know those commercials that go "You still could have had a v8?"
I was wondering if it is healthier to just drink water? I’m asking this because v8 (fruit juice) has some vitamins and what not, and water doesn’t. Which one is healthier in the long run?

Well it depends what you’re looking for in your drink.

V8 is good because it gives you those extra vitamins, minerals, and fiber, but it contains extra calories, sugars, and preservatives as well.
Water is good because it hydrates without the calories, preservatives, etc., but it doesn’t contain any vitamins, fiber, etc.

In the long run the best thing to do is drink water, but still get your vitamins, minerals, and fiber from the actual fruits and vegetables. Eventhough V8 supplies this it could add an extra couple pounds from the calories and high-fructose corn syrup as well as leading to other bodily disfunctions. V8 though is better to have than other drink alternatives such as soda, coffee, and energy drinks. So just have everything in moderation. V8 won’t do much damgage, since it is a juice.

I do suggest Naked brand juice. Many of their juices contain no high-fructose corn sryup and even the ones that do have it contain very little. Most of their juices contain little to no water as well meaning that it is all fruits and vegetables.

What is Natural Lemon and Lime flavor if a Drink contains no fruit juice?

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Like on Gatorade it says Natural Lemn and Lime Flavors ont te front of bottle, buton back it says contains no fruit juice, and ingredients do not say what the naturalflavors are made of.

It could be an extract of lemon or lime, and it could be an artificial flavor. But an actual extract would be expensive. To say it is a natural flavor, the artificial type would have to be the same chemical that’s in real juice, just made artificially for cost reasons.

Either way, would supply natural flavor without actual juice which contains fruit sugar and maybe some pulp.

If You Want To Drink Fresh Healthy Juice You Need A Quality Juicer

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

100% fruit or vegetable juice is very healthy for you. Some people like to drink juice instead of actually eating the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables they need in a day. Having a balanced is important in keeping you feeling and looking young and healthy. People drink juice to stay healthy, or just because they prefer it over other drinks, or it can even be used as a diet. Many people go on a juice fast.

No matter what your reason for drinking juice, you may want to invest in a juicer. When you drink fresh juice from a juicer it contains more of the good enzymes that you want to ingest than store bought juices. There are a few things you may want to consider when buying a juicer of your own.

First you will want to have an idea of how much you are willing to spend. Just remember all the benefits you will gain from drinking freshly made juice. The amount you will need to spend will also depend on what you are looking for in your juicer.

Maintenance is one thing you will want to check out before purchasing your juicer. How much maintenance will a particular juicer require. Some juicers will have brushes that will wear out and need to be replaced. Some will have parts that will need to be lubricated periodically as well. These are things you will want to know before you invest in your juicer.

Warranty is another item that may be of importance to you. Check and see how long the warranty is on a product before purchasing. If you can get a juicer with a longer warranty for about the same price you might as well take advantage of it. If the manufacturer puts a long warranty on their product they must be pretty confident that it will last.

Noise and movement are some other things you can look at. You can buy juicers that make a minimal amount of noise, which is nice. You can also find juicers that have a base that does not allow it to move across the counter as its making the juice. These things are just personal preference of course, and it will depend on what you want.

Another thing you will want to think about is pulp. Do you like pulp in you juice, or do you prefer pulp free juice? Will anybody else in your family be drinking this juice as well, and what do they prefer? You may want to choose a juicer that is capable of making juice with or without pulp. This way you can please everyone in the family, or even have a change in your own juice once in a while.

You can find many different options when purchasing your juicer. Look around and find a juicer that will fit your needs and budget. Make sure you get what you want so that you will continue to use it and not let it just sit on the counter and collect dust.

Is fruit juice a good substitue for real fruit?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I love OJ, apple juice, and what not; but I dont care for the actual fruit itself. Am I missing out on something by drinking the juice instead?

Alot of companies add all sorts of weird dyes and sugars to your juice. At least if you are going to drink it buy ones that have no additives.

You really should eat fruits. Eating them in the raw and not processed is always the best way to get nutrients! Get a juicer and make your own!

How do you preserve home made fruit juice and jam?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

If I leave home made marmalade in the fridge for a long time moulds begin to appear. if i leave home made fruit juice in the fridge for some time it begins to ferment

Find a preserve recipe book, they normally suggest lots of sugar, added pectin dependent on fruit, and sterilized airtight jars stored in a cool dark place (I use the under-stair cupboard), check how long you can keep them- the less sugar used, the shorter the use by.

What was the health danger pointed out in the recent report advising against drinking fruit juice daily?

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

I’m not at all addicted to fruit juice, but (because I’m an older guy) I’ve been forcing myself to drink a lot of cranberry juice (daily) the past few years because of cranberries’ positive effect on urinary health.

A few days ago I heard about the report that drinking fruit juice on a daily basis dramatically increases some serious negative health condition–but I do not recall what that condition is. Anyone know?

The most recent problem with fruit juices is the sugars they naturally contain. Fructose, and other sugars, lead to weight gain. This weight gain is primarily in and around the belly. Belly fat is the most dangerous fat. It can decrease ones ability to open the diaphragm and breath properly and cause heart problems. The sugar in fruit juices can cause a rise in insulin levels and increase the risk of diabetes.
If you are drinking the sugar free calorie reduced ( so they don’t just substitute the sugar for fructose or other sugars) and you only drink a cup or two a day, it don’t think it would hurt you at all. I used to drink a cranberry juice that had like 30 calories a cup. That one should be fine for you.

Other dangers of fruit juices are they may interact with some medications, especially grapefruit juice and grapefruits, some orange juice and apple juices

Other dangers are from drinking unpasteurized fruit juice and these have sometimes carried diseases like salmonella.

I hope this has answered your question

What’s the best kind of fruit juice to buy? Or should I make it myself?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

I like the taste of most fruit, but I hate the texture of them!

I love grapes, but I end up sucking the juice out and spitting the rest out.

I like apples, but I hate the way they feel when I chew on them.

So, my question, what is the best (and preferably cheapest) fruit juice to buy? Or should I just buy the fruit myself and make it, which I’d really prefer not to do, because I’d have to spend extra money on a juicer and waiste the rest of the fruit.

make it your self
too many chemicals and sugars in store bought juice
it’s bad for you
