How do you use lemon juice in your hair to make it lighter?

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

I have dirty blonde hair and I want to lighten it before the summer. I know that lemon juice makes your hair lighter (my friend used it) but I don’t want my hair to get really dry or damaged. How can I prevent my hair from getting dry? And how do I apply the lemon juice? Do I have to dilute it?

what you do is use the juice from 1 whole lemon, and 1 cup of water.
you could put a little splash of hydrogen peroxide in there if you want to get faster results, but if you’re worried about it getting damaged i wouldn’t.

put the lemon and water into a spray bottle, like and empty windex bottle or something. just make sure u wash it good first.

spray evenly all over the outside layer of your hair and brush it through until it’s as wet as you want it to be.

go outside IN THE SUN (it doesn’t work w/ out sun.) until hair is about 80% dry. after you come inside you can blowdry it then shower, or just go straight to the shower.

be sure to use a deep conditioner in the shower, or just leave your regular conditioner on it for a long time.

if you usually style it: you should probably do this on a weekend, w/ out plans, so that when you get out of the shower you don’t have to do anything to it and let it dry on it’s own.

you also might have to do this about 3 times before you notice anything, but be sure to keep it at least 1 week apart so it doesn’t damage your hair. i noticed some difference the 1st time i even did it though. it really doesn’t dry it out as bad as people say if you do it right.

good luck with it!! hope i helped some.

what is the difference between fruit juice and fruit juice concentrate?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Isn’t fruit juice concentrate made from fruit juice? So how come my packet of apple juice list of ingredients says "apple juice, apple juice concentrate"?
if the juice is dehydrated and water is added back again, does its nutritrient value decrease?
IF it doesn’t decrease then come people prefer fresh juice?

Concentrate means that the juice at some point needs water added to it. so when your apple juice says that, it means it’s made from fresh apple juice and apple juice thats been condensed which basically means partially dehydrated then had water added to it.

Can orange juice from a bottle be frozen?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

I bought a refrigerated bottle of orange juice with the pulp. I won’t drink it all any time soon and would like to freeze it. Will it freeze properly?

If there is like half a bottle left, go ahead and freeze it in the bottle.

Urban Ledgends at http://www.snopes.com has some info on the unsubstantiated thought that people can get cancer from plastic bottles. This is not true!!

when ready to drink your frozen juice, allow it to thaw and shake well.

What can I use instead of tomato juice, or how can I make my own?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

My husband found a Beef Soup recipe and asked me to make it for dinner. It calls for 6 cups of tomato juice (I’m cutting the recipe in half, I’m only feeding two people), but I forgot to put tomato juice on my grocery list. I have tomato sauce and tomato paste. Is there anything I can do with either of them to make tomato juice?

1 cup tomato juice: substitute 1/2 cup tomato sauce and 1/2 cup water

For anyone who has tried Acai juice, do you think it tastes good?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Is the taste similar to any other kinds of juices?

They have some at our supermarket for a few dollars and I thought maybe I’d try it, but I didn’t know if it’s one of those things that doesn’t taste great but people drink anyway for the health benefits. Thanks!

I think it’s very sweet and tastes just like any other berry type of juice. Reminds me of mixed berries.

What is the artist and song name from one of the jamba juice mix cds?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

It has a sample in the song of a man singing "I love the nightlife…I love to boogie" but it’s definitely not the Alicia Bridges song. It’s an upbeat, almost dance-y song and I can’t figure out what it is, and the people at Jamba juice dont know either.

I think the song you are looking for is called "I See Her Standing in Her Blue Suede Shoes," sung by Dedi Graucher.

Which is better in goodness? Using a juice extractor or eating the fruit as it is?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Juice extractors separate the skin and fruit pulp from the juice extracted.
Isn’t it better if we eat the fruit whole because some fruit skins contain flavenoids? Of course, we need to wash and clean the fruit well to rid it from wax and other contaminants.
I understand that extracted fruit juices are more digestible and contain enzymes. Thankyou.

Depends on the person. Some people cant eat the fruits themselves. I personally prefer the juices because otherwise I couldnt eat enough fruits to get the same amount.

How do you juice grapes for grape juice?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

We have a grape arbor in our back yard and are about to harvest a huge crop of grapes. I am told that this variety makes great jam as well as juice. What is the best way to juice them? Will one of those veegtable/fruit juicers that I have seen on the infmercials work?

You could use a juicer if you were planning on drinking the grape juice within a couple of days. However, if not; you would need to heat process them in a canner to prevent any yeast growing and causing fermentation to form. Even then the juice may not last as long refrigerated (about a week or so) unless you go the process of canning it. Still you might run the risk of the juice going bad if you did not sterilize it at the right temperature. For most people is is more practical to just turn the grapes either into wine, or into preservers (jams/jellies). And it also depends on what type of grapes you have. Some are best suited for wine, others for spreads, and still others for juice.
